Jon Lockhart: Talk this Wednesday

Join Jon Lockhart at OHOS as part of the Artspeak series of talks. Jon will discuss his latest project which is a collaboration between The Museum of Reading, a group of mixed media artists, local educational institutions and touring venues.

The Arts Council England funded project will explore our relationship with museum artefacts and in a broader sense how we communicate tacit knowledge in all walks of life. The talk this Wednesday will set the framework in which the project will proceed and offers an exciting opportunity to shape an idea through collaborative exchange. Cake and tea will be provided.

Drawing the collection at REME's Museum of Technology

Two artists from OpenHand OpenSpace joined the RGA's drawing days at REME to explore the eollections there, and made some rather free interpretations of the intriguing technological wizardry on display.  OHOS cultivates and enjoys links with many groups.  The RGA - Reading Guild of Artists  - has been successfully promting visual art in Reading for more than eighty years, and now has an exhibition at the Museum of Technology at REME in Arborfield.
Many thanks to Clare Buchta and Hilary Parkinson of the RGA and Judy Booth, Curator at REME for an interesting opportunity.

Revealing Reading's Hidden Histories

The Museum of Reading has been awarded funding by the Happy Museum project to explore the history of three areas in Reading: Orts Road, Dee Park and Oxford Road.  OHOS is pleased to be participating in the Oxford Road section of this project.  Interested neighbours on the the Oxford Road met in the Keep on 2 February to share knowledge and ideas, and plan ways of ensuring this project leaves a legacy for all to enjoy.  The aim is to document and celebrate local features and achievements and raise pride in the area.  The Oxford Road NAG and the Oxford Road Multi Agency (see Oxford Road Fun Day) are also involved.
Next meeting is at the Keep (571 Oxford Road, next door to Brock Barracks) on Saturday 9 February, 10.30 - 11.30am, coordinated by Nicola Mann of Reading Museum
