OHOS is delighted to receive initial support from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) for the "Brock Keep: A Roof with a View" project in Reading. Development funding of £16,700 has been awarded by HLF to develop detailed plans for essential conservation of the Keep's roof, turrets and battlements, a rooftop boardwalk and cafe, restoration of the ground floor verandah, and an exciting programme of heritage activities for visitors of all ages. The development project is also supported by Reading Borough Council which is contributing £6,000. OHOS itself is providing £1000 cash and £17000 of non-cash contributions, including professional skills and volunteer time. OHOS Chair Ingrid Jensen said "We are overjoyed to receive this support thanks to National Lottery Players. It paves the way for Brock Keep to have a secure future as West Reading Arts and Heritage Centre for the next 30 years."
This development phase leads to a second round bid by OHOS to HLF in 2018 which, if successful, would be the start of the delivery phase (building work and public activities) with expected costs of about £516,000.
OHOS is extremely grateful to all its many supporters for helping us to achieve this first step. Thank you!
